Maša Ceglar
Artist – singer – voice teacher
Maša was born in Ljubljana in Slovenia and from the beginning she was attracted to art.
Her passion for dance took her from classical through folk dance to hip-hop. She also trained in gymnastics and at 15 she joined a theatre school.
As soon as she could she decided to make her own way through life. At university she studied sociology and Slavic languages while at the same time teaching dance to children. But what was to prove to be a decisive moment was her joining an independent Cultural Centre. At first she did a variety of jobs before being in charge of organizing musical events with international groups.
This led to other cultural associations and festivals where she gained experience as organizer and artist in the realms of puppets, dance, acting, music…
It became difficult to study at university and lead an artist’s life. A choice had to be made – and her heart decided. And in Ljubljana at only 20, she gave herself fully to contemporary dance, dance/theatre, singing, puppetry.
In 2003 she joined a puppet theatre company as co-creator and artist participating in many international festivals.
There followed five years of creating dance and puppet shows with several companies. Maša also acted in street theatre that took her through Germany, Spain and England.
In 2002 she decides to develop her artistic potential and heads to Brussels – attracted by the special programme that the LASSAAD School has to offer.
She sets up home and starts on a two-year adventure.
After successfully completing her studies she joins a song and percussion group for the project « Roma Karavaan ».
Since 2014 she has worked in « Cirkus in Beweging » in Louvain.
The 2016/17 season sees her in the third pedagogical year of the LASSAAD School. This programme is aimed at people interested in teaching through movement and creating/devising: a programme specific to the pedagogy of LASSAAD.
For the 2017/18 season Maša will start teaching voice/rhythm/singing at the LASSAAD School.
